Sad news from Hollywood: Emmy-award winning actress Estelle Getty of the "Golden Girls" died today at the age of 84.Ms. Getty suffered from advanced dementia which kept her out the off the limelight for years now.
Though she spent 40 years as a working actress in Hollywood, Ms Getty will be best remembered for her role as Sophia on NBC's "Golden Girls." She won a Best Supporting Actress Emmy Award in 1988 for her work.
I loved watching the "Golden Girls" and Ms. Getty's Sophia was always good for laugh. As soon as she said "Picture it, Sicily...." you knew you in for a great laugh from this incredible actress.
My thoughts and prayers are with family and friends.
